Exceedingly rare Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action top break revolver with matching extra barrel assembly, .44-40 cal., 8” barrel, blue finish, checkered wood grips, #35611. This gun is in overall like newcondition showing approx. 99% original finish with a slight drag line on the cylinder, minty bore, crisp action, sharp markings, excellent grips, majority of case colors on hammer and finger rest trigger guard;accompanied by a 6-1/2” extra barrel also numbered 35611 and in .44 S&W caliber with approx. 96% original finish, bore should clean to excellent, sharp markings, matching high rise front sight to front sight on 8”barrel. This lot is accompanied by a copy of a letter dated 3/16/48 on the letterhead of famous early Southland gun dealer Mahlon Frank of “The Sportsman’s Shop” in Pasadena, stating in part, “the one with two barrels(.44 Smith & Wesson revolver)is a #3 Model single action target LONG STRAP MODEL . . . . it should never be worth less than $125, and I would hold, for there are more collectors every year and less guns,
