Eskimo Inuit Tonsina Snow Goggles - Carved Wood
The lot features a set of carved wood snow goggles from a Tonsina, Alaska Eskimo Inuit Native American artist from the Paynich Great Falls, Montana collection. The piece is accompanied with a tag from, "Tonsina Native Arts & Crafts - Traditional Native Handicrafts" owner Ada M. Wilson in Copper Center, Alaska. The inside is hand written, "A Tonsina Native Arts & Crafts Exclusive / Snow Goggles made out of Cottonwood originally used in the winter for sun glare on snow glare / before present day sunglasses." The piece exhibits a finly carved cottonwood piece with the wood grain being wisley placed radiating from the center in true artist style. The piece has a curved design with small slits for the eyes and a curved nose section. Truly a rare piece with nice vintage age. The goggles or sunglasses by themselves are 6 1/8" by 2.25".
