This is a nice example of a Erfurt double dated Luger pistol manufactured in Prussia in 1918, and later reworked for use by the post-War Weimar Republic. The top of the chamber is marked "1920/1918", the toggle is marked "ERFURT" under the crown, the right side of the barrel extension is marked with three crown over gothic letter proof marks, the Imperial eagle and the "crown/RC" rework mark and the left side of the extension is marked with the serial number. The Imperial eagle is marked on the right rear of the barrel and the "crown/RC" mark is on the left rear. The matching serial number is marked on the underside of the barrel as well as the bore diameter "8,82" and the front of the frame has been renumbered to match. The last two numbers of the serial number, "51" is marked on most of the small components, as well as the single crown over Gothic letter. The "crown/RC" is repeated on the rear toggle and front of the trigger guard. The front strap is marked "S.P." and "S.P./Zw" on the toe, suggesting Sicherheitspolizei (Security Police) issue. The side plate is cut to accommodate a sear safety, now absent. Plated magazine with wooden base marked "crown/Gothic letter/5227/+" and fitted with checkered walnut grips.
