This unique rifle operates by an internal striker that is cocked by an external hammer shaped cocking mechanism located on the right side. An underlever which is connected to the chamber swivels to the right to open the breech for loading and unloading. The barrel has blade and notch sights and is marked "J. SPRINGER IN WIEN STOCK IM EISEN N5" behind the rear sight. A floral engraving is featured on the frame, lock plate, cocking mechanism, trigger guard and underlever with the lock plate marked "SPRINGER" in a banner. The underlever is numbered to the gun. The rifle has a set trigger and a folding tang sight. The trigger guard has a wooden extension. The half stock has checkering on the wrist, a cheekpiece and a flat steel buttplate. The buttplate is numbered to the gun and has a light floral engraving.

Condition: Fine as partially refinished. The barrel retains 75% original blue finish thinning to a brown. The remaining metal surfaces have a bright appearance with a crisp engraving. The refinished wood is fine with a putty filled repair near the lock plate, a series of minor pressure dents near the stock toe and some scattered minor handling marks overall. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
