The sleeved (replaced) fluid steel nitro proofed barrels have a single bead front sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers marked 12/70, choked improved modified/modified, and an extractor. The serial number on lower tang is struck, but is faintly visible. An extensive fine scroll engraving is featured on the frame, locks, fences, hammers, trigger guard, forearm hardware, and break leaver, with the lock plates marked "PURDEY", upper tang marked "PATENT" and the underside of the frame marked "PURDEY'S PATENT". The break lever is positioned in front of the trigger guard and is pushed forward by the thumb to release the barrels. The flats of the barrels have several struck British proofs. The water table is marked with two "Crown/V" proofs and two "Crown/BNP" proofs. Nicely figured walnut stock with checkered forearm and stock wrist. The buttstock has a blank initial oval near the toe and is fitted with a solid leather covered recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 3/4 inches.

Condition: Fine as refinished/rebarreled. The barrels retain over 97% of the refurbished brown finish showing some loss at the muzzles and a few patches of minor spotting. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina. The fine reoiled wood has re-cut checkering and a few minor handing marks. Mechanically fine.
