Engraved Gold and Silver Remington New Model Army Revolver with Ivory Grips
This is a Civil War period, New Model revolver with standard three line marking on top of the barrel and matching serial number on the bottom barrel flat and left side of the frame under the grip panel. The sides of the frame, backstrap, trigger guard, center of the cylinder, lower rear portion of the loading lever and an 1 1/2 of the side barrel flats (breech end) are engraved floral scroll designs with a punch dot background. The sides of the top strap have a feather design, the upper rear barrel flats (1 1/2") have a decorative simple double line design and the top flat features floral scroll and punch dot flanking the address with a scallop border around the address. Gold cone front sight, loading lever, cylinder and hammer, with silver plating on the balance. Fitted with smooth, later production two piece ivory grips.

Condition: Fine as custom embellished. The loading lever, cylinder and hammer have been replated with most of the thin gold remaining with some minor pitting on the cylinder. The balance of the revolver retains 75% of the replated silver plating beginning to darken with age in some areas. There is some fine pitting on the barrel. The grips are very good with a number of minor age cracks and taking on an attractive aged patina. The markings and engraving remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
