Engraved Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Takedown Shotgun

Manufactured in 1955 and subsequently engraved and rechambered/rebarreled to 28 gauge. Red front and mid brass bead sights on the solid matte rib, chambered for 2 7/8 inch shells and re-marked "SKEET". The receiver is engraved with two gold inlaid hunting dogs and gold inlaid grouse in a wooded scene on the left side and four gold inlaid ducks in a marsh scene on the right side. The front and rear of the receiver sides have floral scroll engraving with a matte background. The engraving extends to the trigger guard and a 1 1/2 inch wedge on the sides of the barrel at the breech. The bottom of the magazine tube is marked with a pigeon and the matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver and magazine tube. Standard markings, jeweled bolt and follower and mounted with a nicely figured checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a Winchester grip cap and checkered Winchester buttplate. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches.

Condition: Professionally embellished and custom re-gauged. The shotgun retains 99% blue finish. There is a small area on the grouses head where the gold inlay is absent, otherwise the balance remains. The wood is near mint with only light handling marks and sharp checkering. There is some discoloration on the follower and some normal cycling wear on the bolt. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
