This is a nice example of a massive 8 bore, double rifle with paradox style rifling, for the full length of each barrel. The locks, hammers, frame, under lever and forearm release are nicely engraved with fine English scroll designs. Each lock is gold inlaid "R.B. RODDA & CO." The top of the left barrel near the breech is gold inlaid "R.B. Rodda & Co. By Appointment to H.C. The Viceroy" and "H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, London & Calcutta" on the right barrel. Beaded blade front sight and three leaf (2 folding, 1 fixed) rear sight with 50, 100 and 150 graduations. There is a sling eye mounted on the underside of the barrels and it has an extractor. Mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap, cheekpiece, solid recoil pad, sling eye and silver initial oval. Originally listed as Brown & Rodda & Co, R.B. Rodda & Co. manufactured guns in Birmingham but were better known as a luxury retailer catering to colonial British and Indian society of the Victorian era with shops in Birmingham, London, Calcutta and in several Indian cities. The rifle weighs approximately 16.80 pounds, has a 14 1/8 inch length of pull, with a 2 inch drop at the comb, 2 5/8th inch drop at the with a 1/4 inch "Cast On".

Very fine as professionally refurbished with a few tiny chips in the otherwise sharp checkering on the wrist and a few minor handling marks on the wood. Mechanically fine.
