Located in Southern Austria, Ferlach has a long and upstanding tradition of producing some of the finest hunting weapons of all types, dating back to the 1500s. Ferlach firearms are known to have the perfect balance of quality, beauty, craftsmanship and functionality. Today there are 13 companies making guns. These companies are family groupings and some of the best known of these families and most often encountered in the U.S. have names such as Hauptmann, Winkler and Michelitsch, just to name a few. This particular rifle was made by Johann Fanzoj. The box lock action is a bushed satin with blue on the remaining parts. The action, forearm release, trigger guard and break lever are light floral scroll engraved. The barrels feature a ramped front sight with a high visibility bead sight and matte quarter rib with one fixed and two folding blades with gold inlaid sighting lines. Behind the rear sight is gold inlaid "FANZOJ - FERLACH", and the top of the left barrel at the breech is gold inlaid "KAL. .470 N.E.". The serial number is gold inlaid on the lower tang. Holland & Holland style ejectors, Demyblock Boehler-Rasant steel barrels, guilded double triggers with hinged front trigger, long upper tang, manual tang mounted safety with gold "SAFE", and mounted with nicely figured, checkered Circassian walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with lightly engraved metal grip cap, cheekpiece and Pachmayr Old English rifle pad.
