Reportedly manufactured in 1976 to commemorate the U.S. landing on the moon, this rifle has a Mauser 98 action with safety on the right rear, Liege proofed Lothar Walther barrel chambered for the 7 mm Rem Magnum cartridge and a beautiful Circassian walnut Mannlicher pistol grip stock with an engraved coin finished forend cap, hand carved basket weave forearm and wrist, contrasting grip cap, with silver diamond shaped insert, high comb cheek piece, sling swivels and vented Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. The action is coin finished and is engraved with an image of the moon landing on the right front, an Apollo space ship docking with the Lunar Lander and floral vine design on the balance with a dark matte background. The scenes are highlighted with a fine stippled background. The top of the receiver wall is signed "E Dumoulin". The floorplate and trigger guard are also coin finished and trigger guard is engraved with a Gemini space ship on the launching pad with a ribbon motif and "USA". The floorplate depicts a Space Shuttle in space with the earth and moon in the background with a matte background and simple punches which look like stars. The left side of the trigger guard is signed "GRAVURE / J VIELVOYE". The barrel has a raised ramp front sight with high visibility bead and skeletonized hood and quarter rib with matte top and a leaf engraving on the sloped front. There is a 1 1/4 inch wedge of floral scroll and punch dot engraving on each side of the breech end of the barrel. The receiver is fitted with a Leupold VAR I - X III 2.5 x 8 scope mounted on a Redfield base. Jeweled follower, bolt and extractor, and gold washed trigger. Complete with a spec sheet and an appraisal sheet dated November 19, 1991 from the Midwest Gun Sport in North Carolina.

Condition: Excellent. The barrel retains 98% original blue finish with some minor thinning and a few scattered minor scratches. 99% of the original coin finish remains with some mild wear and discoloration on the trigger guard. The stock is very good with some overall scattered minor scratches and dents, with the basket weave remaining very crisp. The engraving is sharp. The action is excellent. The scope is excellent with clear optics.
