Engraved Colt Model 1849 pocket revolver, cased with accessories, .31 cal., 4” octagon barrel, factory ivory grips, #140152 (all matching numbers including wedge and arbor) and “I” marking on barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard andbackstrap confirming the production of this engraved pocket model to include ivory grips. The gun is in overall very good condition showing hand cut Sam’l Colt barrel address, dog’s head on the left side of the barrel, hand cut Colt’s Patent on the left side of the frame, wolf’s head on the hammer and classic scroll work design engraving on the frame, barrel, loading lever, trigger guard, backstrap and wedge, done, in our opinion, by Gustave Young; the metal surfaces retain anoverall grey patina with crisp engraving and markings, minor spots of scattered erosion at firing areas, majority of original cylinder scene visible, considerable original silver finish remaining on trigger guard and backstrap, goodaction and beautifully mellow ivory grips with the usual age cracks from over a century and a half of existence in the elements.
