Engraved British Webley No. 2 “Bull Dog” DA revolver, .450 CF cal., 2-1/2” barrel, blue finish, checkered wood grips, #23905. This gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 20% original blue with balance goneto a grey patina with some scattered spots of erosion and pinprick pitting, good action and markings including the desirable LIDDLE & KAEDING, SAN FRANCISCO agent’s stamping on the top strap of the frame, dark bore, verygood grips. These guns were popular with the sporting crowd and just about anyone in San Francisco during the 1870’s to 1890’s as a powerful pocket size “equalizer”; Bob Dalton had one in his vest pocket when he and hisgang failed in their attempt to rob two banks in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1892 and George Custer was reported to have been carrying a pair of Bull Dogs at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
