English military pattern musketoon or carbine by Raper of Leeds, England in fine to near excellent condition, .69 caliber smooth bore, 27-1/2" barrel, 44" overall, brass mounted, browned barrel, case hardened lock, of thetype privately purchased and used by paramilitary units and the maritime service. The barrel shows 75-85% of its bright original tobacco brown finish, some slight scratches and losses at the front of themuzzle. The lock shows 75-85% dulling original case hardening, the wood is near fine with some small dings, mars, scratches, minor dents. There are two small initials stamped behind the triggerguard at the bottom of the stock that are not quite legible. The gun shows British military type plain brass mounts. The musketoon shows British proofs on the barrel and retains all its original flintlock parts. A very crisp and nearexcellent arm that we would date approx. 1815-1830's. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
