English flintlock belt size pistol with lock marked “Josh Richards” showing nearly 6” iron barrel with top mounted spring bayonet and checkered full stock. The pistol dates approximately 1810 to 1830 and shows a brownpatina finish with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The lock is in its original flintlock configuration showing proper hammer and parts. The barrel shows a platinum plug. The stock shows good checkering and just even wear and aging with some minor imperfections. The bayonet is absolutely original but the spring has weakened does not snap. A horn tip correct style ramrod is included and there is the head of one barrel key missing. A very goodquality pistol by a well-known maker and is the type carried by sea captains and for personal protection against Highwayman. Approximately .64 caliber smoothbore. Est.: $1400-$2800
