Enfield percussion rifle dated 1856, .577 cal., 55” overall, 39” barrel, blue finish, wood stock, #196 stamped on top of butt plate. This gun is in untouched out-of-the-attic condition showingconsiderable muted original blue finish with some scattered areas of erosion and surface crud; good action, uncleaned bore, brass trigger guard and butt plate, two sling swivels, iron ramrod, three barrel bands,percussion nipple protective cap on chain attached to the rear sling swivel. The wood is overall good with some scattered mars and scratches; right butt stock shows “WD” with broad arrow and “R 140” cartouche, “W. Jones” stamped on the left side of the stock above the trigger and “100” stamped on the left butt stock. A great example of this pattern and would greatly improve with a careful cleaning. Est.: $750-$1,000.
