SN: 5770a British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle converted in 1905 for the Royal Irish Constabulary, utilizing a 1900 production Lee Enfield Carbine chambered in .303 British. Features a blued finish, 20.75" barrel with a collar added for use with an 1888 pattern bayonet, raised blade front sight, graduated to 2000 yds, metal forend tip with bayonet lug and provisions for a cleaning rod, serrated trigger, detachable 5Rd magazine, magazine cut off on the right side of the receiver, dust cover and manual safety on the bolt, brown leather sling, smooth wood hand guard, forend, straight grip shoulder stock, brass disc and brass trapdoor buttplate. The left side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/VR, Enfield/11900/L.E.C. /1' Barrel has an 'E' stamped over the chamber as well as Birmingham proof house marks. Stock has a '1903' dated Birmingham circular cartouche/1*' and the brass disc is stamped '4.'04/R.I.C/2795'. Serial numbers are matching on the receiver and barrel. Rifle exhibits approximately 60% of its bright blued finish showing honest wear. Action is smooth, bore is excellent and the wood stock is very good with repairs to the hand guard and forend.
