Sn: 1290a British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle converted in 1905 for the Royal Irish Constabulary, utilizing a 1895 production Lee Enfield Carbine chambered in .303 British. Features a blued finish, 20.75" barrel with a collar added for use with an 1888 pattern bayonet, raised blade front sight, graduated to 2000 yards, metal forend tip with bayonet lug and provisions for a cleaning rod, serrated trigger, detachable 6 round magazine with cut-off on the right side of the receiver, dust cover & manual safety on the bolt, brown leather sling, smooth wood hand guard & forend and straight grip shoulder stock with sling bar, brass disc & brass trapdoor buttplate. The left side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/VR/Enfield/1895/1/L.E.C" and is also stamped 'ENGLAND'. Barrel has an 'E' stamped over the chamber as well as nitro proof marks. Stock has a '1902' dated Birmingham circular cartouche/1 and the brass disc is stamped '3'.04/R.I.C/1875'. Serial numbers are matching on the receiver, barrel and rear sight. Rifle exhibits approximately 70% of its bright blued finish showing honest wear. Action is smooth, bore is excellent and the wood stocks are good+ showing repairs to the hand guard and forend.
