Each of these Ultra Grade Model 70 rifles is chambered in a different caliber, which further enhances the rarity of this set. The Ultra Grade rifles were made to be sold as individual rifles and all production rifles were chambered in .270 Winchester. There were only a few of these sets ever manufactured and each of the eleven rifles in this set are chambered in a different desirable caliber. All rifles are consecutively serial numbered with a special "UG" serial number and all are signed "Bottega C. Giovanelli" on the top left of the receiver. This rifle features a barrel manufactured without sights. The right rear is marked "ULTRA SET" and the left side is marked with the standard two line Model 70 XTR marking. The top of the barrel at the breech end is marked with the Winchester oval proof. The receiver is engraved with a very fine floral scroll pattern with gold inlaid border accents. The left receiver wall has gold inlaid "WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-" and the right front of the receiver has the serial number "UG 912" in gold. The floor plate, trigger guard and grip cap are engraved with the same floral scroll design, as well as a big horn ram in the center of the floor plate with gold bordering. The top of the receiver is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting. Jeweled bolt and follower, with floral scroll engraving on the bolt handle. Mounted with an attractively figured American black walnut pistol grip stock with fancy bordered checkered forearm, with Schnabel forend and wrist area, with a grip cap, solid rubber Winchester recoil pad and sling swivel studs. Complete with the original box and shipping box with matching end labels that read "MODEL 70 Modified ULTRA featherweight/BOLT ACTION RIFLE 222 REMINGTON 22" BARREL" over the Winchester and U.S. Repeating Arms Co. addresses. The rifle is also accompanied by a letter from Winchester.
