Elegant and high quality rapier showing engraved and gilded mounts with fancy two color wire wrapped grip and maker’s stamps and cyphers on the blade. The sword would date from the 1600s and measures 47” overall with a 38” blade. The bladeshows light to slightly heavy pitting with some cleaning but is very well marked with the initials and armorer’s mark. The metal mounts show 50%-70% of their toned gold fire gilt. The grip was professionally rewrapped by a Museum qualityrestorer. A very attractive rapier that belonged to a person of importance having this expensive gold decoration. Est.: $2500-$5000
