Elegant and Royal quality percussion knife/pistol circa mid 19th century with forged steel and gold gilted mounts and matching scabbard. Illustrated “Half- Century Scrapbook” by Theodore F. Dexter and“Blades & Barrels” by Gordon Frost. The piece measures 26-1/2” overall with 21-1/4” long blade which is approx 1-1/4” wide at hilt. The forward 12-3/4” of the blade shows floral etching and the rear portion showsgold gilt with trim gilted to match. The guard shows forged dog heads and the overall quality is very good. The condition is very good plus with just some slight pitting and normal aging. The barrel portion of pistolis 3-1/4” and nicely turned in cannon shape and approx 42 cal smooth.
