This is a stunning example of a professionally customized U.S. Springfield Model 1903 rifle with gold inlay commissioned by the American Custom Gunmakers Guild to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Model 1903 rifle. The custom square bridged 1903 receiver features inlaid platinum / silver engraved floral inlaid designs with gold inlaid wire bordering. The top of the rear receiver is engraved with a diamond pattern. The left side of the receiver has an integral dove tailed scope rail with gold inlaid floral design on the bottom. The sides of the rear sight base have the same French grey floral design and gold inlaid wire border. The hinged floor plate, attaching iron and trigger guard also have French grey floral designs and gold inlaid wire bordering and a floral design in each corner of the floor plate. The 24" Krieger barrel is fitted with a ramped globe front sight and a raised dove tailed three leaf rear sight, (two folding leafs) marked for 50, 100 and 200 yards on an integral base. Directly ahead of the rear sight is engraved "R Evans Engr", the left rear of the barrel is engraved and gold filled "35 Whelen" and there are two thin gold inlaid bands around the breech end of the barrel. The bolt release is hinged and when in place lies flush to the receiver. Jeweled bolt with four finely checkered tear drop panels around the knob and gold inlaid flower and gold wire border on the end of the knob. The left side of the rear sight base is engraved "E Lapour Metalsmith" in Old English letters and the right side "B Farman Stockmaker", also in Old English letters. The barrel is fitted with a banded sling swivel eye with a gold inlaid sunburst on the bottom. The rifle is finished in "two-tone bluing" , part polished and part bead blasted. The engraving was French grayed after the bluing. The rifle is mounted with an extra fancy, nicely figured, 24 LPI multi point checkered one piece quarter sawed California English walnut pistol grip stock with contrasting forend, a metal grip cap with silver inlaid floral and geometric designs and gold inlaid wire border, English double beaded cheek piece, with convex edge, sling swivel eye and steel buttplate with a bamboo design silver inlaid border, silver floral designs around the screws and in the center silver inlaid two columns with kidney shaped floral designs above, floral designs below with the number "18" on a ribbon at the bottom and a compass in the center with a monogrammed "A C / GG" , (American Custom Gunmakers Guild logo), in the center with a textured background. The stock is styled after Sporters of the 1930 to 1950 period. The engraving is "Blackleaf" or Arabesque style similar to Arnold Griebel of the 1930s. The rifle is equipped with a Kahles 2-7x36 scope on a Griffin & Howe rail mount. The top of the scope rings have silver inlaid floral designs with a matte background and gold inlaid wire borders. Complete with a beautiful handmade walnut table case with a thin accent band of light contrasting wood bordering the lid and false draw on the front which has two brass pulls. The case is lined with sky blue fitted leatherette. The case contains two solid brass oilers, a solid brass container with screw-on lid, two ebony handled screwdrivers, an ebony handled brush and a three piece brass cleaning rod with an ebony handle which is contained in a separate compartment with a walnut lid. With the four legs in place the case stands a little over 24" off of the ground.
