Featured in this lot is an Edison Phonograph, Home version, Model C Reproducer, circa 1904-1909, in original Edison banner golden oak hardwood case. Serial number H171138. This model is equipped with 2 and 4 minute switch. Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877, which was developed as a result of Edison's work on two other inventions, the telegraph and the telephone, but it really didn't make its way into American homes for at least twenty years. The removable black and brass horn fits securely. In general, the historical progression was from conical horns to belled horns to petalled horns. This phonograph is in amazingly well-preserved condition, appears intact, though it has not been tested for functionality. Whole phonograph measures 23"H x 19"W x 17"D assembled. Horn has a 7" diameter mouth opening. In case, phonograph measures 19.5"L x 12.5"W x 9"D. Total combined weight 26lb 12oz.
