Early Winchester Model 1892 lever action SRC, .44 W.C.F. cal., 20” barrel, blue finish, wood stocks, #6691 in overall fine condition showing the majority of its original finish, 1973-marked adjustable rear “ladder” sight, considerableoriginal case colors on the hammer and lever, fine bore, crisp action, sharp markings, very good to near fine wood with some old scattered mars and scratches from storage; accompanied by a factory letter indicating received in warehouse Jan. 23,1893 and shipped on Jan. 30, 1893 to order #14014. Also included in the paperwork is a copy of page 383 of Madis’ The Winchester Book covering the issue of early 1892 carbine “hybrids” that utilized 1873 parts such as butt plates, barrels,sights, bands and magazine tubes (this carbine appears to have in addition to the 1873 rear sight, the ’73 style butt plate and barrel band; it appears also to have the earlier barrel and magazine tube; also included is a copy of theshipping records that shows this gun three lines off several noted as “w/73 size barrel” and records of several other low # ‘92s similarly noted. An interesting factory variation ’92 SRC from the estate of Joe Kiser. (Antique).
