This is a very nice example of Remington Model 1903A4 sniper rifle from the first block of serial numbers, as originally issued during WWII, again in Korea and even Vietnam. The barrel is marked "R A/Ordnance Bomb/12-43" and the receiver is marked "U.S. /REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3" correctly offset on the left side. The rifle correctly was made without the front sight and has a correct Redfield marked scope base installed on the receiver, mounting an early Weaver 330 scope. The nomenclature plate on the scope is marked: "Model 330/Pats Pending/W.R. Weaver Co." with no U.S. markings. The rifle has the original "R" marked bent bolt intended for sniper rifles and it is currently fitted with a blued trigger guard/assembly and barrel bands. The stock is a correct but later pattern Scant grip stock made by the Keystone company, that is correctly marked with the sub-inspector proofs in front of the trigger guard along with a "RA/FJA" cartouche on the left side.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30-06
Finish: parkerized/blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 3425501
Condition: Very fine with 95% of the arsenal refurbished, parkerized finish overall. The stock and handguard are both very fine with nice distinct cartouche and proofs, with only minor handling marks and light pressure dents in a few places. The bolt's extractor is a heavily pitted replacement. The scope retains 95% of its original blue finish with clear sharp optics. A nice example of a U.S. Model 1903A4 sniper rifle.
