Manufactured in 1875, this First Model has the grooved guides for the dust cover on either side of the receiver. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's improvement marking, the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blade front sight integral to the barrel band, folding two leaf rear sight, saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate with cleaning rod compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Condition: Good as refinished. The metal surfaces have a smooth artificial grayish patina, with a darker mottled patina on the lever. The wood has been lightly sanded and varnished, and remains good with only a few light handling marks overall. The rear sight is battered as is the dovetail in barrel. The markings are clear. The action functions, but the lever is a little loose.
