The receiver was manufactured in 1905 and has the standard front and rear sights with the barrel marked "S A/flaming bomb/3-06". The front receiver bridge is marked "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY./MODEL 1903./104984". Mounted on straight grip stock with finger grooves, early flat top handguard, an illegible cartouche on left wrist without date, single stock reinforcing bolt, circled "P" proof on bottom of wrist, a "4" in the cutoff recess, illegible rack number stamp on heel, "USWV" (U.S. West Virginia?) stamped on left side by buttplate, sling swivels and a handguard without a sighting notch. With a contemporary production leather sling stamped "flaming bomb/T.S.CO/12-09"

Condition: Very good with 30% of the original blue finish remains with wear on the exposed components. The receiver and bolt retain shadows of the original case colors which have mostly turned gray. The bolt has pitting mostly on the extractor and bolt handle. The lightly sanded, revarnished stock is good with scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. Sling is excellent with light wear.
