The lot features a wonderful authentic Papago Tohono O'odham Native American Indian hand-woven basket that dates to circa early 1900. The basket shows a polychrome geometric design with a bear grass and yucca material that is tightly woven. The basket is very well preserved condition with little loss to the weave. The Papago Indians, the English name given to them by the Europeans, are formally called to Tohono O'odham are from the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. The basket measures overall 11.5" in diameter by 5"H and overall 34 inches in outside circumference. Provenance: From a 90-year collection out of Central Arizona in the Coconino National Forest.
