This is a very late Weimar or very early Nazi era Police Luger as produced in the 1930 to 1933 timeframe. These are typically termed Sneak Lugers based on the lack of any identifying manufactures markings and proofmarks, which the Nazis did to disguise their early rearmament efforts. This example has the blank chamber, but still retains the DWM marked front toggle assembly. There are no proofmarks on the right side of the barrel extension and the left side has only the serial number and "crown/N" commercial proofs which is also duplicated on the breechblock and underside of the barrel. It has the standard extractor and safety markings. The side plate has been correctly modified by the addition of the sear safety bar. It has checkered walnut grips, and is complete with one matching magazine, that has an unmarked magazine body with an aluminum base. The base is marked "2/1287".
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 1287t
Condition: Very fine with 80% plus of the original blue finish still remaining with wear and blue loss on the edges and high points with a gray patina on the grip straps. The side plate shows an old cold blue touch-up. The various small parts retain 90% of their straw colors overall. The grips are in very fine condition with sharp checkering on both sides, showing even honest wear with minor handling marks. As noted this Luger has all matching numbers including one magazine, except for the grips and firing pin which are unnumbered. A nice example of a Nazi Mauser 1933 Sneak Luger pistol.
