Early Italian style flintlock pocket size pistol with unusual brass lock, barrel and mounts, circa 1650. The pistol measures 10” overall with two stage cannon barrel of approx. 5-1/2” in .38 caliber smoothbore. The barrel, lockplate, hammer and frizzen are all brass. The frizzen is lined with steel and the top jaw screw is steel. The mounts and barrel are nicely engraved and the sideplate is pierced and engraved withserpents head; the stock is badly broken and half the tang is missing on top behind barrel. The metal shows a dark brass patina and is completely untouched in modern times. A very rare and early flint that needsrestoration. Est.: $900-$1,800.
