Early American dagger attributed to Schibley, Philadelphia. 8-3/4” overall, 5-1/4” spearpoint blade. Brass mounted, marine ivory grip, with original scabbard. The blade is its full dimensions and unpolished with justsome minor pitting. The grip shows a couple of cracks with a good patina. The tip of the scabbard is missing, throat is retained. The scabbard shows a few losses. Schibley of Philadelphia was one of the earliest American knifemakers whose knives are legendary in their connection with the name James Bowie. This style dagger is dated to the 1830’s and the earliest American identifiable knives by a major maker. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
