Early 3-digit Colt model 1911 .45 auto, U.S. property marked, blued finish, checkered wood grips, serial #355. This low serial number 1911 remains in good to very good untouched original conditions showing 20-40% originalblue finish, some erosion, light to moderate scattered surface pitting, good markings, grips good with even wear. Markings are all visible and there is some bright finish on small parts and protected areas. The pistolshows all correct early major component parts including barrel, trigger, hammer, grips, etc. and shows early patent dates, early inspections, and two-tone lanyard-bottom magazine. Action good, bore very good, andthe Colt just shows honest use consistent with military service. These early 1911’s went primarily to Texas and the border areas and were used before the first World War along the border in the Pancho Villa era. Itwould be difficult to fine and more honest and untouched early 3-digit 1911, which have become prohibitively expensive in fine condition.
