Early 1941 Production Colt Model 1911-A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #745254, .45 ACP cal., 5" barrel, most small parts with parkerized finish, blued magazine release, barrel bushing, and grip screws; serial range for early 1941 production, numbers on slide match the frame, fixed thin blade front sight and drift adjustable fixed rear sight with small "u" notch, grip safety, coarse checkered arched mainspring housing, lanyard loop, machined and checkered steel trigger, slide marked with Colt's address, patent dates, and Rampant Colt logo, "P" proof on top of slide, frame is marked U.S. Property, M1911A1 U.S. ARMY, R.S. in a boxed inspector's marking, and "P" proof on left side and on top of internal frame; trigger guard marked with "VP" in triangle, "4" and "39". Black Dulite finished barrel is marked "Colt 45 Auto" on lower chamber area, and "P" on lug. Dark brown early Coltwood composite checkered grips, with one dull dark gray finished magazine with no markings. Condition is very good retaining approx. 90% thinning original finish, the slide showing a slight two-toned color with a darker area near the front. There is light holster wear on the front and high edges of the slide, tops of the sights, lines from firing on the lower slide front edges, front edges of the frame, side edges of the trigger guard, thinning to the front of the trigger guard and front grip strap, some scattered freckling stains on the slide and frame, thinning to the finish on the mainspring housing, wear from use on the sides of the trigger, grip safety back and sides, and hammer. Light line on the frame under the hold open lever from disassembly; wear to the high edges of the hold open lever and safety lever. Barrel shows wear on the top chamber area and light wear on the body from use, with a minty bore. Action, hold open, and safeties all function properly. Grips are slightly different in color and show light wear from use and minor scratches, and a couple of flattened diamonds. Grip screws show light wear to the high surfaces, with some having slightly marred slots. Magazine is very nice showing only light lines from use. Est.: $2,000-$2,500. (C&R/PPT)
