This is an attractive example of a very early model 1914 DWM WWI Imperial German Luger that has been professionally and properly restored. (The gun must have been 90% to begin with!) The top of the chamber is dated 1914 and the front toggle is marked "DWM" . The right side of the barrel extension has the three crown over Gothic letter proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof, which is also stamped on the rear of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. This example was produced in the early "a" suffix block so it went through 4 years of use during WWI. It is numbered in the military fashion full serial number (7759) on the frame, barrel extension and underside of the barrel with the last two digits (59) of the serial number on the smaller parts. with the safety area and extractor is correctly marked "GESICHERT and GELADEN" and it has the standard fixed sights. It is fitted with an original WWI nickel plated magazine with a unnumbered wooden base plate.

The pistol exhibits a beautiful rust blued finish overall with just a hint of edge and high spot wear with nice sharp corners and edges. The markings, proofs and serial numbers are clear and sharp. It has 98% of the colored small parts. The walnut grips are in excellent condition showing a nice medium brown color on both grips with nice sharp checkering on both sides. The side plate was renumbered during the restoration, and it has matching numbers except for the magazine, firing pin and grips all of which are unnumbered. A very nice example of very early 1914 dated DWM military Luger pistol.
