Early 1900's Rare Bridal Rosettes With Mules
For your consideration in this lot are TWO pair of glass domed bridle rosettes featuring Mules in Harness. Glass Rosettes are a decoration for a bridle that first became popular in the Victorian days (late 1800-early 1900). They used colorful artwork. Over the years bridle rosettes became advertising tools also as several companies used them to advertise their company information. Very few pairs of these have survived over the years. Often you can only find a single rosette that is in decent shape. This is a lot of TWO very nice pairs. Besides these rosettes being in good condition the other thing that makes them special is the face that they feature Mules. The mule is the most common and oldest known manmade hybrid. To many Mules were a poor comparison to the romantic horse but the few loyal mule lovers, have been firm in their stance that the mule is far superior to the horse. The settling of the west owes more to the mule than the horse. These glass fish eye rosettes are on brass mountings. The rosettes measure 1 3/4" across and are in good condition.
