Offered in this lot we have a collection of Chatillon mercantile hanging spring balance scales originating from the early 20th century. The collection consists of seven scales, three improved scales, two number 2's, a number three, and a John Chatillon and Sons. All the scales show steel construction with brass front plates along with attachment rings and hooks. The improved scales are marked across the front reading "Chatillon's Improved Spring Balance New York" with some variation of patent number or other markings. The number 2 scales are marked "Chatillon's Balance No2 New York Pat'd" with different patent dates. The number three is marked across the front "Chatillon 3 Pat'd Jan.6.1891, Jan.26.1892" with the three in a star. The final scale is marked "John Chatillon & Sons Makers New York U.S.A." and this scale is in metric Kilos rather than pounds. The scales show good condition overall with some wear due to age and use. The largest of the scales measures 11 1/2" long by 1 3/4" wide.
