Early 1900 Southern Plains Beaded Awl Case
The lot features a beaded awl case on polychrome parfleche painted remnant from the Southern Plains and the early 1900's. The case is constructed from a remnant of old polychrome painted parfleche envelope with sinew sewing and is covered in banded geometric glass trade seed beads of an early period that is cotton thread sewn. The beadwork shwos greasy yellow and maroon. The top has a beaded Indian tanned hide strap with ties atop and beaded hide parfleche fringe along with a drop of parfleche hide with braided human hair effigy. Unique piece with some bead loss. Measures overall 18"L.
