From Great Falls, Montana, Heikka produced over 200 artworks in the tradition of Remington and Russell. Main patron, William Clark III, grandson of copper king magnate, helped promote his artwork, shown in Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. Marshall Fields, Gary Cooper, and Con Kelley commissioned his work. A known alcoholic, Heikka committed suicide in 1941. This bronze was received with two other bronzes as payment to Scotty Zion for moving two garages, a box car, trailer house, and cleaning two barns
