Heikka, Earl. 1910-1941 From Great Falls, Montana, Heikka produced over 200 artworks in the tradition of Remington and Russell. Main patron, William Clark III, grandson of copper king magnate, helped promote his artwork, shown in Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. Marshall Fields, Gary Cooper, and Con Kelley commissioned his work. A known alcoholic, Heikka committed suicide in 1941. Scotty Zion moved a bridge for Robert Skinner in partial trade for this bronze. Original owner of The Cowboy was John D. Baker and family
