EVE-81 ANTI GARROTING DEVICEAuthentic and only known original anti-garroting device circa Mid-19th century marked “R. Dall’s Patent”. The device was worn as a belt with the gun portion in the center of owner’s back and was fired bylanyard on wire through the belt. In the Mid-19th century thugs were garroting gentleman to lift their wallets and goods. This became a problem and guns, knives and cane swords were used as defense. The gunportion is approximately .40 caliber percussion cap fired on a 7” blued steel plate. The condition is very good plus. A Japaned tin case with flask, mold, wrench and caps are included with suede lined oldoutside carry case. Purchased by Eric Vaule from Norm Flayderman estate at Amoskeag Auction Co. Beware of copies.
