ENFIELD MKIV MARTINI HENRY SINGLE SHOT RIFLE.
Cal. 577/450 Smooth Bore. S# 9642. Bbl. 33 1/8". Bbl. has had rifling removed. Fixed open rear sight. Stud type front sight. Long lever Martini-Henry rifle mfg. in England likely by Enfield. This firearm has apparently seen much service likely in South Asia. Right side of receiver has had most markings removed leaving only "I.V" / "2". Bbl. reinforce has both British & Asian view marks. Receiver extension at bottom has "broad arrow" & British view marks. Stock set appears to be walnut. Forend has 2 clamping bands. Ramrod is present. Steel buttplate retained by brass screws. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ obscured markings & extensive loss of wood in inletted areas. Lever socket in belly of buttstock has been remounted w/ a dovetailed repair. Buttstock has several cracks around rear of receiver. Forend has chipping issues along wood line and ramrod channel. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ wear & handling marks throughout. Lower bbl. band is notably loose. Rifle has been given a smooth bore by removing the lands. Bore is shiny but has scattered fine thinning throughout. (01-2680/RW). ANTIQUE. $300-400.
