1903-A3 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3593723. Bbl. 24". Bbl. marked on top behind rear sight "RA", "flaming bomb" & "4-43". Adj. aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight. All visible parts markings are "R" except stock tip which is "O". Bolt root is marked on top w/ "? 3". All stamped furniture including fine checkered buttplate & sm. bow trigger guard. Walnut stock set w/ straight grip & brass reinforcing pins. Stock has slightly obscured markings from a light cleaning. Markings are the standard "crossed cannons", boxed "FJA" & boxed "OGEK". This last marking is the inspection mark of famed firearms authority Elmer Keith when he worked at the U.S. arsenal at Ogden Utah. Brown leather Model 1907 sling marked "MILSCO" & dated 1943. CONDITION: the stock has been lightly cleaned in the time since the markings were applied leaving them slightly obscured as noted above. Stock has a good appearance w/ light wear & staining. Metal retains a lg. percentage of its arsenal rework parkerized finish. The rear sight has a notable plum color. The bands & handguard ring have an oxidized patinaed appearance.
