EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
Cal. 32 W.S. S# 113580. Bbl. 26". Model 94 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1898. The left flat of the half octagonal bbl. is marked w/ Winchester's address, followed by "-NICKEL STEEL BARREL- / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER", as well as the cal. designation. Metal components exhibit a blued finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock w/ crescent buttplate and plain wood forend have been lightly sanded & revarnished. Forend is slightly loose. Full length mag. tube. Reversible ivory & brass beaded marble front sight w/ U-notch rear sight. Upper receiver tang exhibits an additional screw for a no longer present tang sight. CONDITION: receiver retains traces of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear w/ areas of pitting and heavy striations from cleaning overall. Bbl. & mag. tube retain large amounts of their original factory finish, exhibiting areas of wear & thinning that show through to a pleasing brown patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, and retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling & storage, but is otherwise very good overall. PROVENANCE: the Collection of Gun Sport Ltd owned by Jon R. Thomas.
