EARLY  1917  DATE DWM LP.08 ARTILLERY LUGER WITH
HOLSTER & MATCHING STOCK. Cal. 9mmL. S# 6102. Bbl 7 7/8". Standard configuration LP.08 manufactured at the DWM arsenal in 1917 under contract for the Imperial German military. The receiver is stamped "1917" over the chamber, with crowned DWM arsenal proofs followed by an Imperial German reichsadler on the right, which is also present on the right side of the barrel, as well as on the left side of the breechblock. Major metal components are blued, with some smaller components being strawed or nitre blued. All numbers are matching (with the exception of the magazine) and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, barrel, rear sight assembly, receiver, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, grips, as well as the original stock flat board stock. MAGS: 1 8 rnd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: aforementioned matching flat board stock with an Imperial Crown/S proof on the left. as well as a 1915 dated brown leather holster appearing to be stamped "Rudolf Wiemer&Co./ Mulheim Koln" and containing an unmarked loading tool and cleaning rod. CONDITION: major metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear that show through to gray patina and some silvering, with some mild spots of surface oxidation overall. Grip straps exhibit mild to moderate amounts of surface oxidation. Strawed components retain exhibit wear and age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting very light pitting throughout. Grips show smoothing and some scattered nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise very good. Stock show some scattered marks form handling and storage, with a repaired crack on the right side. Toe strap has torn, but is present. Holster remains sturdy and malleable, exhibiting age related cracking overall, with areas of mild crazing. (23-2475/MLW). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
