E.J. Churchill Premier XXV self opening side lock (extra finish) double barrel S x S shot gun, 12 gauge, serial #4682 (see lot #1530 for consecutive number Churchill). The gun shows 25" barrels, double triggers, autoejectors, low rise non-ventilated rib. 2-3/4" chambers (out of proof). Left barrel measures .17 modified and right barrel .11 improved cylinder. The left barrel shows a thickness of .33 and right barrel shows athickness of .28. The stock measures 14-1/4" to the end of the checkered butt with a 2-1/2" drop at heel and 1-5/8" drop at comb. Approx 1/8" cast at toe, zero cast at heel, mfg. about 1931. The gun is numbered "2" ingold on release lever and is a pair to number 4681 with slightly different game engraving. The Churchill remains in very good plus condition showing 80-90% original blue and case hardening, some even wear and slightuse, approx 70% blue on trigger guard. The stocks have been professionally refreshed with no sanding. The gun locks tight and the bores are bright. From the Robert E. Petersen estate. Est.;$7,500-$15,000.
