Featured in this lot we have a signed Douglas Johnson limited edition lithograph titled "Flute Alter, Pueblo Noveau". Douglas Johnson is an American artist know for his depictions of Southwest Native Americans and daily life. Johnson is heavily influenced by Native American, particularly Navajo art work and it's reflected in his art style. This piece shows buildings, figures, and animals made of geometric patterns and shapes. The piece shows five Native American figures towards the center with the figure at the middle playing a flute. The figures and designs show black lines and coloration with some sections of orange. The piece is marked in the bottom left hand side reading "Flute Alter, Pueblo Noveau", marked "22/25" in the bottom center, and marked "Douglas Johnson 1984" in the right hand corner. The piece is set into a wood frame with a black and white border, along with a border of blue tape. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece shows good condition with some light wear across the back of the frame. The frame measures 29 1/2" wide by 22 1/4" tall with the art measuring 22 1/4" wide by 15 1/2" tall.
