Double barrel percussion shotgun signed “W.G. King, 220 Piccadilly, London manufactured expressly for J.A. Maltby, Galena, Illinois” engraved in block letters on the rib. The gun is also signed on both locks. This shotgun iscontained within its original to the period green felt lined partition style English case. The gun is in 10 gauge with 31 ¼ “ heavy barrels measuring 47” overall. The gun remains in very good plus condition showing most of its original stripingand brown on the barrels which is at least 50% to 70% intact. The nicely engraved locks and mounts show considerable original finish drifting to patina and the trigger guard shows 50% to 70% toning original blue. The stock is very good pluswith a nice grain and checkering showing just slight wear at the edges. The interior of the case shows some indentations, minor repairs at contact points but is at least very good with two shot flask, two powder flask and miscellaneous periodaccessories. The exterior of the case is veneered mahogany with brass mounts and fittings missing one corner mount. The exterior of the case is otherwise good with minor imperfections, cracks and normal aging.
