Double barrel percussion Jacobs style rifle by G. H. Daw showing 57 Threadneedle St., London address engraved on the barrel. The rifle measures 40” overall with 24” barrels in approximately .54 caliber. The barrel is mounted with 3 folding V notch rear sights and 1 elevating sight graduated to 1800 yards. The barrels show 40% to 60% original blue drifting to brown with some losses at the edges, staining and erosion. Some pinprick pitting just starting and the locks show considerable traces of case hardening with some colors. The stocks are good to very good with some minor dings and scratches. There is a serial number 4183 stamped behind the trigger guard. The actions are good. A large steel headed ramrod is included and the rifle shows a stud and swivel for sling. There are some small losses of wood along the bottom edge of the barrel where it marries the wood. The Jacobs rifle was a favorite private purchase arm of British officers headed to Africa, India and other colonial locations in the mid 19th century. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
