Double action pinfire revolver marked “Dumonthier” and is approximately 7.5 mm with nickel plated finish, burl Walnut grips, serial number 2357 in original trunk style French fitted case. The metal surfaces show 60% to 80% original nickel withsome erosion and pinprick pitting just starting where the nickel has lifted. The initials J.M. are scratched in 2 places on the pistol with the date “9-4-74” (Sept. 4th, 1874). The pistol measures 9” overall with a 3 ¾” barrel and is of a slightly larger size than normally found and fits a large hand well. Dumonthier was a famous French arms maker and inventor most recognized for his knife pistols. The pistol is cased in the fitted French style and the case remains in very good conditionwith just some minor fraying and impressions. A tin cartridge box is included. The exterior of the case is brown dyed Moroccan leather with an embossed pattern and brass tacks. The exterior of the case is very good with normal aging and ismissing its handle or strap.
