This U.S. Springfield M1C Sniper Rifle is equipped with an M82 Telescopic Sight fitted with a rubber eyepiece and sliding sun shade. The telescopic sight, serial number "44683", has matching part numbers (7575180) on the windage and elevation knob covers. The Griffin & Howie sight base has the number "3718020" and is mounted to the left side of the receiver that is stamped on the underside of the base with the serial number "3691188". This M1C Sniper Rifle was arsenal overhauled and has a Springfield "1-52" barrel. The receiver has standard Springfield markings and is fitted with a Battle Range sight. The stock has the letter "P" and a circled "P" stamped on the grip, a russet leather, lace-on cheekpiece stamped "K/line" and leather sling. The rifle comes with an oiler. Nearly all of the M1C sniper rifles were rebuilt by Springfield Armory or other Ordnance facilities during the Korean Conflict. M1C rifles remained in service until the start of the Vietnam War with most of the M1C rifles being destroyed by the Army during the 1980s and only a few hundred M1C rifles were released to the public by the DCM or through Title 10 exchange programs. Condition: Very fine as arsenal refurbished. The rifle retains 98% of the parkerized finish showing minor handling marks. The stock is very fine with a few minor pressure dents. The telescopic tight has clear optics. Mechanically excellent.
