Our Assessment: In January of 2017 SIG Sauer won the U.S. Military MHS contract that replaced the Beretta M9. The first units to get the new pistol were the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions. 3,000 of the pistols were returned to SIG and sold on the commercial market. This one come with a FOIA letter stating that this pistol was received by B Co., 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on December 18, 2017. On May 6, 2019, the pistol was turned in to the United States Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, Michigan. This will be a great addition to a collection.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a green lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two amber lamps mounted to the optic cover plate. The cover plate can be removed for mounting an optic (none present).

Grip Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece textured brown polymer. The grip frame shows normal use-wear. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Very Good-Fine overall condition.

Type of Finish: Coyote PVD

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some scattered marks through the finish and holster wear. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions ______. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a cardboard Sig box with serial-matching label, one 17-round magazine, two 21-round magazines, factory paperwork including manual, recoil spring, and a FOIA letter indicating that this pistol was first received by B. Co., 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division.
